It is applying diplomatic principles \u2014 relationship-building, negotiation, cultural intelligence, and reputation management \u2014 to how a company engages with actors that shape its business environment across borders: governments and regulators, NGOs, local communities, media, and civil society.


It targets external stakeholders \u2014 the people and institutions who can advance or block a project through policy, protest, or public opinion, even without buying anything.
